Meet the Magician
Adam Moore is a Minneapolis-based magician who has captivated audiences throughout the Midwest — including an extended run at the Plymouth Playhouse — in Las Vegas, Europe, Latin America, and on television. “He astounds audiences with wily escapes, illusions and a splash of humor” (Star Tribune). Adam has studied magic with Jeff McBride, Jonathan Pendragon, Lance Burton, and other leading magicians. He is a member of the Society of American Magicians and serves the Minneapolis chapter in a variety of leadership roles. Adam wants you to feel the same joy watching magic that he feels performing it. Sit back and enjoy!
How did you get started in magic?
“As children, many of us were interested in magic, and this was certainly the case for me. I enjoyed playing with my Fisher-Price Magic Show playset, reading magic books, and, of course, watching any magic shows I could. However, I don’t think anyone would have described me as having an exceptional interest in magic until I was 10 years old. That’s when I had the opportunity to learn magic as a part of a school program. As I learned the mechanics of the trick from a book, my teacher and mentor stressed the importance of showmanship and helped me turn the trick into an entertaining routine. At the end of the program, I performed my routine for my entire class, and they were excited and amazed! That ignited my passion to create that experience for more people.”
What have been a few highlights since then?
“Over the years I worked with my friends to create and perform magic anywhere we could. One of those friends was Lisa. Prior to her recent retirement from the stage, we performed together for many years, developing an act that has taken us from Rapid City, South Dakota to Woodbury, Minnesota to Grand Marais, Minnesota to St. Louis, Missouri with stops in Las Vegas, Latin America, and Europe. We had an extended run at the Plymouth Playhouse and have even appeared on TV a few times, one of which included a free bathroom remodel!”
What do you do when you’re not performing?
“In my continuing quest to improve my magic, I have studied at the McBride Magic School in Las Vegas with Jeff McBride, Jonathan Pendragon, and Lance Burton, and I regularly participate in seminars across the country led by top magicians. I am a graduate of St. Olaf College where I studied art and played saxophone. I continue to play saxophone in a local concert band. My not-so-secret alter ego is as a leader at an advertising agency.”
